Can Programming Get You Killed?
Coding might be a dangerous profession!
Just sitting in a chair and coding seems like a harmless profession. But as the cliché goes — it’s all about the dose.
Chris Simmons, a programmer from Bristol, learned that the hard way in 2006. After 12 hours of continuous programming he collapsed and was later taken to hospital, coughing up blood. It turned out that prolonged sitting led to a blood clot that nearly killed him. He was lucky: a few years later a South Korean gamer died in similar circumstances.
